Kansas
Many underestimate the beautiful landscapes in Kansas. From the breathtaking Flint Hills and the tranquil central plains to the Kansas and Missouri Rivers, the Sunflower State offers more than people might expect. Kansans are proud of their heritage and their contribution to the American economy through agriculture, but also of their unique political culture and historical significance.
Kansas is home to many giants in their field such as the classic rock greats in the band Kansas and the first woman to fly across the Atlantic Ocean, Amelia Earhart. We have political giants such as President Dwight D. Eisenhower and Olympian Jim Ryun. Additionally, some of Kansas’s original activists such as John Brown and Carrie Nation were revolutionaries in American history. The Civil War may have been ignited in Lecompton, but segregation ended in Topeka after the Brown v. Board of Education ruling.
