Charlotte O'Hara, John Rubin, and Steve Shute discuss Kansas' $160 million federal grant & connections to ObamaCare

An important video to watch, from a recent Overland Park seminar sponsored by the Union of Patriots (their Facebook page is here).

First, here is a speech by Rep. Charlotte O'Hara, the only legislator willing to publicly criticize a needless $160 million project by Sam Brownback that is deeply intertwined with ObamaCare.  Overland Park Rep. O'Hara was removed from a health care committee by Speaker Mike O'Neal after O'Hara criticized Gov. Sam Brownback on a radio program.  This video is from KansasWatchdogTV.

The next video begins with a video message from Rep. John Rubin, followed by a strong presentation by Union of Patriots board member Steve Shute.

Here, you can read the letter to Gov. Brownback from the Union of Patriots group.  Learn more at "Our Letter to Governor Brownback regarding Kansas ObamaCare Exchanges."

Friday Night in Overland Park: Health Care & Immigration Reform

Friday night at the KU Edwards campus in Overland Park, there's a free event focused on three timely issues: ObamaCare, immigration reform, and tax reform.

Featured speaker is Louis Woodhill (right), columnist for Forbes and RealClearMarkets.

The event is sponsored by two Kansas City-area center-right political groups: the Union of Patriots and FairTaxKC.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the event starts at 7 p.m.

To be clear, I'm not co-sponsoring it, nor is any organization I'm officially a part of, but I know some of the guys involved in both of these groups (Union of Patriots and FairTaxKC), and they're good folks.

These issues have tremendous implications both nationally and regionally.  Whether or not you come to the exact same conclusions on all of the issues, I'm confident you'll find this event educational.  I try to remind myself that we are a "center-right coalition" or a "leave us alone coalition" -- we may at times disagree on exactly how to get there, but we agree the end goal is greater liberty, smaller government, and preservation of our Constitution.

There's a similar event in Wichita on Saturday night.

Read the full invitation by clicking here for a Web page version, or click here for a PDF file.

Woodhill brings a fresh approach to our economic woes.

He is a software entrepreneur who is currently an investor and board member in three start-up companies. He is also on the Leadership Council of the Club for Growth.

He is a frequent contributor to Forbes and Real Clear Markets. Some liberals hate the Laffer curve. Try Woodhill's!

"There is a reason why our economic system is called 'capitalism'. It is capital investment-private capital investment-that makes our economy grow."

"Recessions don't just happen. They are caused by government mistakes."

"Economies need three things from government: incentives, money, and certainty. Right now, the main problem seems to be certainty."
