My Political Journey
Hi my name is Justen Charters. I am twenty four and was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. Despite the heavily secular and politcally correct indoctrinating in school, somehow, I never submitted to liberal ideology. Yes, my teachers made FDR look like a deity, and Reagan look the way MSNBC portrays Scott Walker. I did not become politically engaged until about eight months ago when I fell ill with an immunity disorder that has cost me a lot of time, weight, and money (got to love those medical bills). No I don't want Obamacare, and I'm still recovering. When I was practically bed ridden and did not have a lot going on, I started to read quite a bit, and tune in to the news more often than I used to. Even with my limited knowledge on politics, I paid enough attention in government to realize Obama was breaking rules and touting a public policy that could be labeled as a "double standard". This inspired me to do something, so I checked out something in the ballpark of twenty books at the local library on everything from The Constitution, writings from the Founders, and foreign policy, to how Rome fell. I love to write, and make political commentary videos for my YouTube channel, DearCitizenTV. I am very dedicated to preserving our values and liberties, and doing whatever I can to help give Obama that much needed push out of the White House in 2012. I love to study history, current events, politics, and the Constitution. Instead of planning on being a hip hop star like I wanted to be before, when I get well I want to go to school for American History and Constitutional Law. I might even run for State rep in the next few years. "A Note I Sent To My Followers Recently" So as a lot of you know I have been battling a illness for around ten months now. I have tried to bide my time in the wisest way possible and refrain from being idle or pessmistic about my situation. During this bump in the road I have spent a great deal of time studying our Founders, the trouble with the ideology of the Statist, what causes civilizations to fall and what I can do as one small voice to aid the cause of liberty. It started small with producing home made videos on youtube where I commentate on certain political or moral issues. I dream big like everyone else but I honestly did not think it would go very far other then making meeting a few like minded people who shared the same views and enjoying a bit of good discussion with those people. However it went a lot further then that. Commentary from one of my very first videos received air play. A song I did poking fun at Obama's broken promises was played on Alana Burke's show. One of my videos Tear Down This Wall(Inspired by Reagan and Beck) has received over 12,000 acumlative hits online. I have only been on twitter for around three months and have roughly 1300 followers. I have over 300 subscribers on youtube. I am the creator and owner of a few pages on facebook, one of which has over 3,000 followers and another that has over 1300. An article was even written about a video I did on examiner.com and people have even told me to run for office here locally. Although all these benefits of hardwork are great, We all need money to survive and for the last ten months my older brother has been providing a house, food and the resources I need to achieve my little American Dream. I am not a fan of being co depedent but when you aren't gaining any nutrients from what you eat and you have lost a great deal of weight, you have to humble yourself and accept charity and especially when it is from a family member. Well even though I am not fully recovered I am happy to say. The Lord has just recently blessed me with a job where I can do what I love and yes it is political! As well as youtube has just enabled revenue sharing on all my videos. So I can pay back my brother for his hospitality and kindness and stand on my own two feet again! The moral of my little story is not to brag or boast about my success for fighting an uphill battle. The moral of my story is to let everyone know that you can do anything you set your mind to no matter your circumstances. The American Dream is built on hard work, perseverence and good intentions. Its funny I used to be heavily involved in hip hop music and was planning on recording a record and going on tour before getting sick and now I want to be a Constitutional Laywer, author, commentator, and someday a statesman.
